RL Limo is a humanist typeface that defies strict classification as a sans serif, blending sharpness and softness. Its defining feature is in the contrast between sharp, spiky terminals and generously rounded forms seen in characters like ‘O’, ‘C’, ‘d’, ‘p’, and ‘g’. This dynamic tension between angular and curved elements creates a bold, graphic impression, particularly in its heavier weights.

The family consists of six upright styles, ranging from Regular to Black, with its lighter weights suitable for paragraph text while still leaning toward display use. As the weights increase, the counters grow tighter, enhancing its dramatic, high-impact appearance. The design holds true to humanist proportions, infusing organic, curved details within the counters, while the outer shapes maintain clean, straight lines for a more structured, graphic look.

Inspired by contrasts between sharp and delicate forms — like the tension in a balloon before it pops, metal cutouts, or cutting pasta with scissors — it plays with visual tension in a way that feels experimental yet rooted in tradition. While not adhering strictly to any single type model, it borrows influences from Art Nouveau typography. It draws inspiration from iconic typefaces like ITC Benguiat, particularly in its heavier, display-oriented styles.
